Christopher C. Walton is the principal and founder of Walton Law, APC, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of nursing home neglect, financial elder abuse and personal injury. Early in his career, Chris spent several years defending insurance companies, but now dedicates his practice exclusively to helping victims of elder abuse and those who have suffered catastrophic injuries due to the negligent or intentional acts of others.
Since opening the doors to his own firm, Chris has earned numerous awards for his advocacy on behalf of elders and victims of catastrophic injury. In 2013, The Daily Transcript named him a Top 10 Personal Injury Attorney. He was also named Attorney of the Month and featured on the cover of the San Diego Attorney Journal. In 2014, Chris was recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer, an honor reserved for only five percent of attorneys in each state. He was later named a Top 40 Under 40 California Litigator by the American Society of Legal Advocates. Chris maintains the highest rating of 10.0 and has been awarded the Clients’ Choice Award in back-to-back years by Avvo.
Chris remains very active in the legal community. In 2011 and 2012, he was elected by his peers to serve back-to-back terms as Co-Chair of the Elder Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association. In 2012, he helped Professor Robert Seibel launch Access to Law Initiative (ALI), a project that aims to bring affordable and pro bono assistance to members of our community who otherwise may not have access to legal services, while at the same time supporting recent graduates who engage in solo or small firm practice. In less than one year, ALI became a model for similar programs all over the country. Chris presently serves as Chair of the Board of Advisors for ALI.
Chris serves on the Governmental Relations Committee, Awards Committee and the Foundation for Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. In addition, he volunteers his time with the Service Members Civil Relief Act, protecting the legal rights of members of the U.S. military while they are deployed. He also enjoys volunteering his time to mentor law students through the Mentorship Program at California Western School of Law.
Chris earned his B.A. from Western Washington University, where he was listed on the President’s Honor List. He went on to earn his J.D. in just over two years, graduating cum laude from California Western School of Law. While attending California Western, he was awarded the Dean’s Merit Scholarship for superior academic achievement and the American Jurisprudence Award for academic excellence in Trial Practice, Advanced Mediation Advocacy and his Clinical Internship. In his final year at California Western, he won the Environmental Law Negotiation Competition and was selected to compete nationally on behalf of the law school.
Chris is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, North County Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, Consumer Attorneys of California, American Association for Justice and the American Inns of Court, Honorable William B. Enright Chapter. He is admitted to practice law in the State of California and in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central and Eastern Districts of California.
