Eric C. Ragatz is a native attorney from Jacksonville, FL. Since 1996, Mr. Ragatz has specialized in personal injury and wrongful death cases, only representing the consumer and only representing the injured. Mr. Ragatz specializes in catastrophic injury cases, including tractor-trailer negligence cases, auto negligence cases, premises liability negligence cases, and medical malpractice cases.
Mr. Ragatz has achieved numerous jury verdicts as the lead trial attorney and has obtained multiple million-dollar verdicts. Along with his partner, Tom Edwards, Mr. Ragatz helped to try and won a verdict for a Jacksonville family against a local hospital for $178,000,000. This case was one of the largest medical malpractice cases in the history of the State of Florida.
Mr. Ragatz is rated “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell, a peer-review attorney evaluation service, which is the oldest-rating service in the United States. An “AV Preeminent” designation is the highest available and is a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.
Mr. Ragatz has been designated as a Super Lawyer with the Florida Super Lawyers since 2014 and a member of Florida ABOTA (American Board of Trial Advocates – Jacksonville Chapter). ABOTA is an organization dedicated to defending the civil justice system. Its members are qualified trial attorneys in civil cases. Mr. Ragatz was further named to the National Trial Lawyers List of Top 100 Trial Lawyers in 2018.
Mr. Ragatz is admitted to all Florida courts, all United States District Courts in Florida, and is also licensed member of the State Bar of Georgia. This distinction enables Mr. Ragatz to represent clients throughout Georgia and Florida. Mr. Ragatz is also a member of the local Jacksonville Bar Association, the Jacksonville Justice Association, and the state-wide Florida Justice Association. The FJA advocates the interests of injured Florida citizens before the Florida Legislature and in the courtroom.
Mr. Ragatz is also a proud member of Chester Bedell Inn of Court. The Inn of Court is a group of judges and attorneys who meet periodically to discuss issues of interest to the legal community, emphasizing professionalism, ethics, and civility of the practice of law.
Mr. Ragatz graduated from Florida State University in 1992 and Stetson University College of Law in 1996, J.D. Honors Cum Laude.
Mr. Ragatz loves spending time with his wife, Shannon, and their three daughters. When Mr. Ragatz is not in the courtroom fighting for justice for his clients, he is spending time traveling with his family and friends and spending time outdoors.
