Raymond Ravis Jr.

Jacksonville-based Ray Ravis is a personal injury attorney who has practiced since 1998. After beginning his career by defending insurance companies in court, he now challenges them on behalf of his injured clients who failed to receive the benefits to which they are entitled. 

Practice and Associations

Ray is a partner in the law firm of Anderson, Howell &Ravis and operates a Jacksonville office for the practice. He is admitted to practice on the Federal Court for the Middle District of Florida, which includes Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Ocala and Ft. Meyers. He is a member of both the Florida Bar Association and the Jacksonville Bar Association and was a former member of the Board of Governors for the Jacksonville Bar’s Young Lawyer Section. 

Education

Ray is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Law, rated in 2013 as one of the nation’s top-25 public law schools by U.S. News and World Reports and ranked in the top 50 of all law schools nationwide. He earned an undergraduate degree from Stetson University.

Several top legal ratings services have awarded Ray with high marks based on his peers’ reviews of his capabilities, professionalism and effectiveness as a lawyer. The prestigious Martindale-Hubbell legal directory awarded Ravis with its highest rating, AV Preeminent, which is based on confidential reviews from judges and other lawyers who have worked with him. Florida Super Lawyer named Ray a “Rising Star” in 2013 and the attorney evaluation service Avvo gave Ravis a near perfect 9.8 rating, which is calculated with a mathematical formula that factored his history, experience and professional achievements. 

Memberships

By being a Soaring Eagle member of the Florida Justice Association, Ray shows his commitment to fight for injury victim’s right to seek the justice they are entitled to. He is also a board member of the Jacksonville Justice Association and a member of the American Justice Association. These organizations pressure Congress, the state legislature and the city council to keep access to the courts open for victims of injuries. 

Community Service

Ray is involved in his community and volunteers as a soccer, football, basketball, and baseball coach in his spare time. He also works with local charity organizations, including the Sulzbacher Center, which fights homelessness in Jacksonville. Ray served as a host committee member for the center’s annual fundraising event, Transformations.
