John David Hawkins is the Founder and Owner of HawkLaw. He has been licensed to practice law in South Carolina since his graduation in 1994 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Focusing on litigation, Mr. Hawkins is experienced handling Worker’s Compensation, Personal Injury, Social Security Disability, Administrative Law, and Criminal Law matters. His familiarity with the courtroom began when he clerked at the South Carolina Supreme Court for the Honorable Judge E.C. Burnett III, and that knowledge was bolstered by his time spent as a state Senator and member of the South Carolina House of Representatives legislating the very laws that govern his practice today.
His time spent in the South Carolina Army and Air National Guard, where he rose to the rank of Major, has given John excellent leadership and organizational talents that are a boon to his clients. The combination of those qualities, his advocacy skills gained through many trials, and a legal mind honed as Managing Editor of the South Carolina Law Review set him apart from less accomplished attorneys. Mr. Hawkins litigates cases in both South Carolina State and Federal Courts, and is licensed to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court, the 4th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court of South Carolina.
John enjoys spending time with his two daughters, Jenny and Haley. He’s also a pilot, cyclist, and avid reader.
